Social Impact of Cannons:

·         “One of the first known records of cannons was at was used at was the Mongol siege of Yangzhou in 1276. They used cavalry with fire-lances during the siege. This was a major battle during the Mongol-Song war that ended up with the defeat of the Song Dynasty”  (Fire lance).
·         “During the siege of Acre which lasted from 1189 to 1191 and was one of the first battles of the third crusade. It was a battle between the King of Jerusalem, Saladin, and the Crusaders lead by Richard I of England and others. During the battle, trebuchets were used. The siege ended up in the surrender of Saladin’s garrisons” (Siege of Acre).

·         “The Howitzer cannon were used during the American Civil War. They were used by both sides and in many of the battles. The result of the war is America today and the destruction of the Confederates.

·         During the battle of Atlanta, during the Civil Wars, the 3-Inch Ordnance gun was used by Union and Confederate forces. Because of its accuracy and other forces during the battle, and other factors, it resulted in a Union victory” (guns, the early 20th century )

·         “The Paris gun was used during WWI by the German Empire. It was used in the shelling of Paris, were 320-367 shells hit the city. The gun was taken back when advancing allied troops threatened its position. It was later brought back to Germany were it was destroyed” (Paris Gun." Wikepedia. N.p., n.d).

·         The M1 Abrams was used during the Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan, and it will be used in further battles. The M1 Abrams were very important during these wars. The tanks were much more advanced than their opponent’s weapons and were able to fire on them before they were able to get in range. The US won all of these wars.
